Senior living in Asia is set to change with a shift to urban living and city based employment during rapid economic growth - the traditional extended family care is no longer sufficient to cater for ageing national populations. There is interest in the development of western style retirement villages and aged care services in Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and China, with more than 167 million people in China currently aged over 60. Australian and US companies are reportedly in discussions about developing new services according to an article in The Australian newspaper on 28/4/11.
