From July 1, the new higher tax-free threshold of $18,500 combined
with the seniors and pensioners' tax offset means that single seniors
will be able to earn around $32,000 and couples around $57,000 tax
free. More information on these entitlements will be available soon
from the Australian Taxation Office website.
There
are also changes to the work bonus from July 1 so you can keep more
income or work for short periods without affecting your age pension. You
can find out more from the Centrelink website on the Work Bonus, or just go to the Seniors Housing Online News and Information page to find out more and use our handy links. | | | | | | | | | | | | |
